The office of the Murphysboro Emergency Management Agency(EMA) is located in the basement of the City Hall and is comprised of trained volunteers who are on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to provide additional manpower and resources for public safety. The agency is also responsible for preparing and updating the City’s Emergency Operations Plan and for coordinating disaster response.

The agency provides additional manpower for search and rescue, communications, fire scene assistance, and traffic control to the Murphysboro Police and Fire departments as requested. The staff also acts as weather spotters during Weather Watches and Warnings. Click here for Murphysboro Weather Information.
