The City of Murphysboro has the following open positions and/or is accepting applications/bids/RFP’s/RFQ’s:

WATER BILLING CLERK
     – This position is within the Water Billing Department at the Daum Administrative Building and requires excellent communication, organizational and clerical skills including familiarity with computers and the ability to multi-task.  Applicants must be at least 18 years of age, possess a high school diploma or equivalent and a valid Illinois Drivers’ License.  Probationary Wage is $18.00 per hour.  Hourly rate at Year 1 is $19.50.  Deadline for submitting an application is 4:00 p.m. on Monday, July 20th, 2026.

PART-TIME ANIMAL CONTROL OFFICER
     – This position involves manual laboring activities requiring physical strength and coordination.  This position also requires excellent communication, reading comprehension, organizational and clerical skills including familiarity with computers and the ability to multi-task.  Applicants must be at least 21 years of age, possess a high school diploma and a valid Illinois Drivers License.  The starting wage for this position is $20.00 per hour.  Deadline for submitting an application is  4:00 p.m. on Monday, June 22, 2026.
